More than a year and a half after the onset of the global Corona epidemic, the country’s administration has taken a tough line after a schoolboy was diagnosed with the virus in Bhutan.

 

The Bhutanese capital, Thimphu, has been locked down after coronavirus was detected in the body of an eight-year-old boy.

The lock-down, which began at 6pm on Saturday (June 12), will continue for the next 72 hours.

 

Earlier in the day, a student of Druk School in Thimphu was diagnosed with coronavirus.

The country’s health ministry hastily announced a lock-down in the city.

 

According to media reports, the coronavirus was detected in the body of the student in the rapid antigen test.

Although the report came negative in RT-PCR test.

The student will be tested again in the next 48 hours.

In addition, during this 72-hour lock-down, it has been decided to test everyone’s corona across Thimphu.

 

According to the BBS, Bhutan’s national news agency, a school in Thimphu was conducting a routine rapid antigen test.

In that test, the corona virus was detected in the body of one student.

The government immediately decided to issue a lock-down in the capital city.

 

All entrances to Thimphu have been closed due to the announced lock-down.

“Today we are facing another reality,” Prime Minister Lotte Shering told the nation.
