Student Iqbal murder mystery revealed

Mymensingh District Detective Police (DB) has unveiled the murder mystery of Shahinur Alam Iqbal, 19, a student of Mymensingh District’s Tarakanda Police Station. DB police say the killings were premeditated due to a family dispute. One person has been arrested in the incident.

It is learned that a man named Abdul Helim (45) of the same village has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the murder of Iqbal, son of Abdur Rauf of Palashkanda village in the upazila on Thursday. Abdul Helim, who was arrested on Friday (June 25th), has given a confessional statement to wise Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahbub Akter in the Amalli Judicial Court No. 6 with details of his involvement in the murder.

Confirming the matter, DB OC Shah Kamal said that on May 31, college student Shahinur Alam Iqbal went to the next shop after eating at around 10 pm. From there he never returned home. The next day, his father lodged a missing GD at Tarakanda police station. Five days later, the body of a missing college student was recovered from the safety tank of a housing project in Palashkanda. The elder brother of the deceased said. A murder case was registered against the unidentified accused at Tarakanda police station following the allegations made by Selim Miah, 35.

He further said that under the direction of Superintendent of Police Ahmar Uzzaman, the district detective police, Mymensingh, 20 days after the incident, the accused Md. Abdul Helim, 45, was arrested and interrogation revealed the murder.
